The law ignres psychlogical trauma, and tries to do the impossible: make killing painless. Accept the fact that killing is p-ainful--- even the guilltine has had its worked botched from time to time. It is trying to mitigate a repugnat act that we try to sterilize the state murder. Accept that killing is crude, brutal and painful, r abolish the death penalty --- except perhaps for damyankee fans, and make all this discussion moot. If the blade is sharp, it is a guaranteed quick solution and only needs to be done once. Sure, there is some blood, but you can't get the job done without some mess.
