Why Here? Why Now?

Me, the Law Dork

I’ve been back blogging now for a few days more than five months, and I’ve found there is a lot happening that I want to write about — and that others seem to like the idea of me writing about.

I am really enjoying writing again.  The instant “welcome back” that I received from the folks around during the blog’s first iteration, from the summer of 2003 through the fall of 2006, was so appreciated.  And the new folks who I’ve been getting to know who had begun writing during my absence or have started writing since I returned have added a new excitement to my days!

So, I bought this domain and am going to get going on here.

I think that I have a voice to add to the important conversations going on about LGBT issues, and I like to think that more often than not my training as a lawyer is helpful to my view of those conversations.  I also think that — although I’ve been spending much of my time focused on LGBT issues — I add a unique voice to several other policy discussions, from regulatory reform to tort reform.  For more than a decade now, I’ve participated in or witnessed politics in many forms and at many levels — from D.C. to the Ohio Statehouse and from campaigns to legislating.

I am working on some projects outside of the blog to keep money coming in, but I have been and would like to continue to keep the focus on the blog and my writing.  So, to the extent that you agree, and would like to continue to see independent legal analysis of the issues of the day, please donate to support Law Dork via the PayPal link on the sidebar.  I also have added ads to the site.

I had intended to “launch” on Monday, but I’ve transferred everything from the Wordpress site over to here — so I figured I should let some folks know what’s happening and have a post up explaining it.  I am, obviously, not a Web designer or developer, so as I figure this all out there are bound to be several glitches.  The “categorizing” still needs to be done and a bunch of little things, but the main items seem to be in working order.  There are some issues with the comment count and comment threads here at the new site, but it does appear that all comments did at least transfer.

In the meantime, welcome to the new Law Dork, and please, please, please, let me know what you like, dislike, or anything else about it!
