As I mentioned, the folks at CCT are putting on RENT this summer. It opened last night, and — given space confines and some moments of mircophone difficulties — my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Though Mark, played by Jonathan Collura, did an admirable job in the lead role (despite having some of the worst mic issues), the stand-outs were Chris Greiner as Roger (capturing the spirit of Adam Pascal’s original Roger amazingly well), Vanjah Boikai as Tom Collins (doing an astounding job in the reprise of “I’ll Cover You”) and Katy Lynn Patterson as Maureen (particularly in “Over the Moon”). Go see it!
On Wednesday, Columbus hosts Jay Brannan! (Finally, people are thinking, then he’ll shut up about this!) Seriously, Brannan is an amazing, openly gay musician and everyone who can be at The Basement on July 15th should be there!
For the label whores, and we imagine some of you are out there, Facebook, which never lies, reports that the new Eason Town Center “Burberry opens next Friday, July 17th. The sign says that the store is opening in the fall, but actually it opens next week.” Huh? In any event, starting next Friday, Burberry no longer is special. Every high school gay and girl will be buying it before the Easton curfew sets in, and all the Burberry lovers will need to find a new “elite” brand. Sorry, all.
And, so as to not leave out the the law dorks, and we know you’re out there, the Columbus Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society will be holding its second annual U.S. Supreme Court Review, at noon Thursday, July 25 at the Columbus Athletic Club. Kathleen M. Trafford, co-chair of the Chapter’s Advisory Board, will moderate a panel featuring Professors William P. Marshall and Bradley A. Smith and Ohio Solicitor General Benjamin C. Mizer. $20 to attend; lunch is provided. Sign up here! (Students are $15 and should sign up here.)
Finally, some more Jay to get you through your Friday afternoon.

It’s a good thing you’re such a legal genius and savvy political analyst. This music is utterly terrible.
It’s okay, I still love your blog! You don’t have to be good at everything.
